There seems to be some confusion on the promise ring tag.

While a promise ring CAN be a ring worn to signify you are waiting till marriage it is not always so.

A promise ring can also be a ring worn to signify a commitment to a long term relationship. In some cases, it can be worn as a sort of pre-engagement ring. In others it is worn just to signify you are currently in a committed, long term relationship.
